“The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” Genesis 2:7
I wonder what the God of the universe felt as He breathed the first breath of life into Adam. . .
I wonder if He saw Eve deceived by the serpent
And if He saw Cain murder Abel.
I wonder if he saw Joseph sold into slavery
And Bathsheba bathing.
Did He hear the dice rolling as the guards cast lots for Jesus’ clothing?
Could He see His only Son beaten, bruised and hated by those who He had formed in their mothers’ wombs?
Did He feel the cloaks fall at the feet of Saul
And the stones hit Stephen?
I wonder if He hesitated.
I wonder if He saw David dance
And Jochebed put her baby in a basket.
I wonder if He saw the Israelites enter the Promised Land
And Esther save His people.
Did He see Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refusing to bow to another god as they faced a fiery furnace
And Mary startled by an angel?
Could He hear the thief hanging on the cross next to His Jesus asking for forgiveness
And the heavens thunder?
And He breathed.
The reward must be worth the cost.
And eternity must outweigh the present.
I wonder why I hesitate.
